Moat
Barn Nursery
School has been in existence for over ten years
and has an enviable reputation for high quality childcare within the local
community.
We are registered for 70 children aged between three months to eleven years. In our under twos room we maintain a strict child to staff ratio of 3:1 in our two - three year old room we maintain a ratio of 4:1 and in our three to five area we aim to maintain above required levels of child to staff ratios of 6:1.
We work in accordance with relevant legislation including Disabled Persons Acts, 1958, 1986, Equality Act 2010, Race Relations Act 1976, Sex Discrimination Act, 1986, and the Children’s Act 1989, 2004 Disabled Commission Rights Act 1999
Each child is valued as an individual without racial and
gender stereotyping. Differing cultures, ethnic, religious and social groups
and those with and without disabilities will be valued and respected.
The interior of the Nursery is mainly an open plan design
with an emphasis on different areas such as painting, computing, music, general
play, home corner, sand pit and a quiet area for reading and learning.
Outside Moat
Barn Nursery
School offers a large decked area for bikes,
trikes, tractors and other ride on equipment to promote gross motor skills.
There is also a large grassed outside area with climbing equipment and free space
for children to exercise and enjoy the learning environment around them.
We aim to provide a stimulating environment with a good
balance of imaginative and interesting activities. We prioritise personal and social development
and the building of self-esteem.
Language and literacy is emphasised, mathematical concepts such as
quantity and scale, simple addition and subtraction and number recognition are
covered thoroughly. Children are
encouraged to use their creativity; we feel that this is a crucial area in
learning.
We run a key person system, where a member of staff will build a relationship with your child and respond sensitively to their feelings, ideas and behaviour, communicating with parents to ensure that your child is being cared for. The key person will be responsible for completing your child’s ‘Learning Journey’. Which is an assessment material devised by Suffolk County Council, from Birth to Five. This will consist of photos and observations by staff and yourselves.
Nursery Grant Funding is accepted and we are also able
to accept payments through Nursery Vouchers from BUSYBEE, KIDDI VOUCHER, SODEXHO, CHILDCARE PLUS, CARE 4, ACCOR and ALL SAVE.
We arrange our waiting list in order of date of birth and we
monitor the gender and ethnic background of children joining the Nursery to
ensure that no accidental discrimination is taking place. Moat Barn Nursery supports equal
opportunities.
We work in
accordance with relevant legislation including Disabled Persons Acts, 1958,
1986, Race Relations Act 1976, Sex Discrimination Act, 1986, and the Children’s
Act 1989, Disabled Commission Rights Act 1999.
We believe that the group’s activities should be open to all families
and the nursery recognises that many different types of family successfully
love and care for children. We respect
all children and recognise their individuality and offer opportunities to
develop in an environment free from prejudice and discrimination.
